Carpe’ Amor!

This post is about love. . .and living life.

Recently a friend of mine approached me to tell me that she had “maybe” started to see someone. I think she was just excited and wanted to shout it from a mini mountain top I.E. me. She was worried however, because there was good chance it would be temporary. I was happy and excited for her and wished her luck. She did not ask my advice so I did not offer it. But if she had, I would have said this,

NEVER let a chance at love and the exploration of feelings pass you by. You never know what can happen down the line. You can’t control the future so when it comes to love live for today. You can’t stop hurt. You can’t stop heartbreak. Those things will come no matter what you do. But you can stop “What if?”.

Recently a woman who worked for years with the dying named Ms. Bronnie Ware wrote a list of the top 5 regrets people would say aloud on their deathbed. Three of the top 5 were:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself. . .
2. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
3. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

None of the regrets came anywhere close to, “I wish I had never allowed myself to fall in love.” To open your heart and allow a chance at love is courageous, even more so when there are obstacles.

I guess my main point here is that life is full of experiences, some good and some bad, but everything (even the bad stuff) helps us grow as people. Allowing yourself to love no matter what, may eventually cause pain but in the end, love itself can never be a bad experience.

Love openly. Love fully. Love purely. Rush into it with open eyes and open arms and the rest be damned!
